The Christmas Song

(Mel Torme, Robert Wells)

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire

Jack frost nipping at your nose

Yuletide carols being sung by a choir

And folks dressed up like Eskimos

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire

Jack frost nipping at your nose

Yuletide carols being sung by a choir

And folks dressed up like Eskimos

Everybody knows

A turkey and some mistletoe

Help to make the season bright

Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow

Will find it hard to sleep tonight

They know that Santa’s on his way

He’s loaded up with toys and goodies on his sleigh

And every mother’s child is gonna spy

To see if reindeer really know how to fly

And so I’m offering this simple phrase

To kids from one to 92

Though it’s been said many times many ways

Merry Christmas to you

They know that Santa’s on his way

He’s loaded up with toys and goodies on his sleigh

And every mother’s child is gonna spy

To see if reindeer really know how to fly

And so I’m offering this simple phrase

To kids from one to 92

Though it’s been said many times many ways

Merry Christmas      Merry Christmas     to you

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

(M. Martin, R. Blane)

Have yourself a merry little Christmas

Let your heart be light

From now on our troubles will be out of sight

Have yourself a merry little Christmas

Make the yuletide gay

From now on our troubles will be miles away

Here we are as in olden days

Happy golden days of yore

Faithful friends who are dear to us

Gather near to us once more

Through the years we all will be together

If the fates allow

Hang a shining star upon the highest bough

And have yourself a merry little Christmas now

Here we are as in olden days

Happy golden days of yore

Faithful friends who are dear to us

Gather near to us once more

Through the years we all will be together

If the fates allow

Hang a shining star upon the highest bough

And have yourself a merry little Christmas now

And have yourself a merry little Christmas now

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

(J. Fred Coots, Haven Gillespie)

You better watch out    You better not cry

You better not pout    I’m telling you why

Santa Claus is coming to town

He’s making a list   Checking it twice

Gonna find out who’s naughty and nice

Santa Claus is coming to town

He sees you when you’re sleeping

He knows when you’re awake

He knows if you’ve been bad or good

So be good for goodness sake

You better watch out    You better not cry

You better not pout    I’m telling you why

Santa Claus is coming to town

You better watch out    You better not cry

You better not pout    I’m telling you why

Santa Claus is coming to town

With little tin horns and little toy drums

Rooty toot toot and rummy tum tums

Santa Claus is coming to town

With curly head dolls that toddle and coo

Elephants boats and kiddy cars too

Santa Claus is coming to town

The kids in girl and boyland

Will have a jubilee

They’re gonna build a toyland

All round the Christmas tree

You better watch out    You better not cry

You better not pout    I’m telling you why

Santa Claus is coming to town

Santa Claus is coming to town

Silver Bells

(Jay Livingston, Ray Evans)

City sidewalks   Busy sidewalks

Dressed in holiday style

In the air there’s a feeling of Christmas

Children laughing people passing   Meeting smile after smile

And on every street corner you hear

Silver bells      Silver bells

It’s Christmas time in the city

Ring a ling      Hear them ring

Soon it will be Christmas day

Strings of streetlights Even stop lights

Blink a bright red and green

As the shoppers rush home with their treasures

Hear the snow crunch   See the kids bunch

This is Santa’s big scene

And above all this bustle you hear

I’ll be home for Christmas

(Kim Gannon, Walter Kent, Buck Ram)

I’ll be home for Christmas

You can plan on me

Please have snow and mistletoe

And presents on the tree

Christmas eve will find me

Where the love light gleams

I’ll be home for Christmas

If only in my dreams

I’ll be home for Christmas

You can plan on me

Please have snow and mistletoe

And presents on the tree

Christmas eve will find me

Where the love light gleams

I’ll be home for Christmas

If only in my dreams

The Christmas Donkey

(Sandy Hug)

A long ago donkey all shaggy and brown

Made a journey from Nazareth town

His furry back was strong

And as he walked along

He sang this donkey song

Haw he haw haw he haw

Haw he haw he haw

Haw he haw haw he haw

Haw he haw he haw

He gently carried a beautiful lady

He heard them say she would soon have a baby

But when they reached Bethlehem’s wall

There were no rooms at all

So they shared the donkey’s stall

(and he sang quietly)

Haw he haw haw he haw

Haw he haw he haw

Haw he haw haw he haw

Haw he haw he haw

Then late at night he heard a baby cry

And looking up a dazzling star had filled the sky

Then all the angels from the heaven came down

And shepherds from the fields all around

To worship at the sight

And in that shining light

Donkey’s coat turned snowy white

Haw he haw haw he haw

Hallelujah

Haw he haw haw he haw

Hallelujah

Blue Christmas

(Billy Hayes, Jay Johnson)

I’ll have a blue Christmas without you

I’ll be so blue thinking about you

Decorations of red on a green Christmas tree

Won’t mean a thing if you’re not here with me

I’ll have a blue Christmas that’s certain

And when that blue heartache starts hurting

You’ll be doing all right with your Christmas of white

But I’ll have a blue blue Christmas

Decorations of red on a green Christmas tree

Won’t mean a thing if you’re not here with me

And when those blue snowflakes start falling

That’s when those blue memories start calling

You’ll be doing all right with your Christmas of white

But I’ll have a blue blue Christmas

I’ll have a blue blue Christmas

Pass it on to You

(Naomi Lewis/Randall Lee Anderson)

Grandma could see my disappointment as I tore open the old box

The doll was old and stained, and it was made of cloth

She said her mama made it, ‘cause that’s what they used to do

It’s the night before Christmas; I want to pass it on to you

Grandma’s no longer with us, and I’m kind of ashamed of myself

I forgot that I had stashed it on a closet shelf

Now I appreciate it, but it makes me feel so small

I never really thanked her for her mama’s doll

If she could have left it to my sister, it would have been a precious toy

But I was an only child, and I was just a boy

My daughter stares in disapproval at the crumbling cardboard box

She says “Dad I think you’re losing it” like she’s been double crossed

I say, “There’s a story behind it, one you’ll grow into”

“It’s the night before Christmas, I want to pass it on to you”

The night before Christmas, I want to pass it on to you

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

(Sammy Cahn, Jule Styne)

The weather outside is frightful

But the fire is so delightful

And since we’ve no place to go

Let it snow let it snow let it snow

It doesn’t show sighs of stopping

And I brought some corn for popping

The lights and turned way down low

Let it snow let it snow let it snow

When we finally kiss goodnight

How I’ll hate going out in the storm

But if you’ll really hold me tight

All the way home I’ll be warm

The fire is slowly dying

And my dear we’re still good-bye-ing

But as long as you love me so

Let it snow let it snow let it snow

When we finally kiss goodnight

How I’ll hate going out in the storm

But if you’ll really hold me tight

All the way home I’ll be warm

The fire is slowly dying

And my dear we’re still good-bye-ing

But as long as you love me so

Let it snow let it snow let it snow

As long as you love me so

Let it snow let it snow let it snow

Oh Holy Night

(Traditional)

O Holy night

The stars are brightly shining

It is the night of the dear savior’s birth

Long lay the world

In sin and error pining

Till he appeared and the soul felt it’s worth

A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices

For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn

Fall on your knees

I hear the angel voices

O Night divine O night when Christ was born

O night divine O night O night divine

O Holy night

The stars are brightly shining

It is the night of the dear savior’s birth

Long lay the world

In sin and error pining

Till he appeared and the soul felt it’s worth

A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices

For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn

Fall on your knees

I hear the angel voices

O Night divine O night when Christ was born

O night divine O night O night divine

It’s Christmas, I Wish You Were Here

(Randall Lee Anderson)

It’s Christmas and I’m sentimental

I love this time of year

Remembering our dear saviors birthday

It’s Christmas, I wish you were here

I see children singing carols

That would make the angels proud

And they’d take me straight to heaven

If you were here right now

It’s Christmas, may his spirit be with you

And guide you all through the New Year

I wish you all that you want for

But most of all, I wish you were her

I see children singing carols

That would make the angels proud

And they’d take me straight to heaven

If you were here right now
